To gain valuable insight into the global maritime sector in order to strengthen the organisation’s reputation and provide business leads for commercial partners and venues.
The research process as well as working with venue partners has led to an improvement in our venue finding pages on our website. Visit Greenwich is now aiming to set up a new Conference Bidding Unit and has created a proposal for 5 local business partners.
This new insight has been achieved and is providing an improvement to the service we provide through our business tourism function. The intern and team have an improved knowledge and understanding of the conference sector and how to take this forward for bidding for events.
Visit Greenwich has found it to be hugely beneficial to be able to benefit from KEEP+ funding. Over the last two years, the company has been able to create a Business Tourism post which it would not otherwise have been able to do – first, a Business Tourism Manager, and second a Business Tourism Researcher (intern). The advice and contact we had with the KEEP+ team was always helpful and positive.
My experience of the KEEP+ Programme has given me great insight into working for an SME. In addition to the work of the research project I’ve also been able to handle venue enquiries, establish new databases and attend the tourism launch of Visit Greenwich’s destination management plan. Also, during my time at Visit Greenwich I’ve had opportunities to meet and network with people within the industry and attend numerous events that have enhanced my learning further.
